Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs.

Urologic diseases or conditions include urinary tract infections, kidney stones, bladder control problems, and prostate problems, among others.

A kidney transplant is one of the most common organ transplant surgeries performed today. In this surgery, kidneys that aren't working well are replaced by a kidney from a donor. This surgery is a lifesaving choice for thousands of patients with end-stage kidney disease (kidney renal failure). In case of kidney failure where one cannot have a transplant, dialysis can sustain life. Dialysis cleans the blood by removing waste products such as urea.
