Professor Davis is a Consultant at the Nottingham University Hospitals. He has specialised in Hand and Nerve surgery for 29 years.
He was President of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand in 2009, and was Editor of the Journal of Hand Surgery during 2000-2004. He has been an invited lecturer of the Hand Societies of the Belgium, France, Netherlands, Skcandinavia, South Africa, Sweden and the USA and regularly lectures on the Hand and Wrist to trainee surgeons in the UK.
He has performed many research studies in Hand Surgery and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham. He was awarded a Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011 for his research on scaphoid fractures.
He has also performed research trials on the treatment of thumb base osteoarthritis, Dupuytren's contractures and carpal tunnel syndrome and contributed significantly to the NHS(England) treatment pathways for carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, Dupuytren's contracture and ganglia in 2018. He is presently the Chief investigator on a National Institute of Heaalth Research (NIHR) study on the treatment of Dupuytren's contracture.
