Mr James Catton is a consultant general surgeon based at the following hospitals:
He has clinical interests in the following areas:
Mr Catton specialises in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and performs advanced procedures including laparoscopic gastrectomy and oesophagectomy. He also uses keyhole surgery for the majority of general surgical procedures, including hernia repair and gallbladder surgery. Additionally, he has great expertise in the surgical treatment of gastro-oesophageal (acid) reflux.
His research interest is in enhanced recovery after surgery.
Mr Catton gained his medical degree from the University of Leeds in 1994 before going on to achieve an MD followed by fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons.
He is a member of the British Medical Association, the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons (AUGIS), the British Association of Parental and Enteral Nutrition, and the European Society of Parental and Enteral Nutrition.
