He was the professor and head of the department of dermatology, an institute of postgraduate medical education and research and SSKM hospital, Kolkata. He was also the past HOD, dermatology, of North Bengal medical college and Calcutta national medical college.
He is the chairman, post-graduate academic council of ipgme&r- since May 4, 2004, till retirement.
