Dr. Rajendra Kanakia completed MBBS and MD - Internal Medicine from Grant Medical College and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals. He joined the gastroenterology department at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, where he became the first DNB student. He trained in gastroenterology, hepatology, and endoscopy and participated in research projects, leading to a pool officer's post through the CSIR.
Dr. Kanakia received advanced training in gastroenterology, endoscopy, and endosonography at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam under Prof. J.N.J Tytgat and Prof. Paul Fockens in 1995 and 2000.
He is affiliated with Lilavati Hospital and research center, Raheja Fortis Hospital, and Lion Tarachand Bappa Hospital.
Dr. Rajendra Kanakia has recently added capsule endoscopy to his state-of-the-art endoscopy suite.
Dr. Rajendra Kanakia's passion for medical education led him to pioneer medivision, one of the CME programs on national television in India. He launched one of India's healthcare portals in 2002 and established health varsity, an online training portal for doctors.
He is a member of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology and a founder member of Grant Medical College Alumni Association.
