Dr. Jayanta Roy is an eminent Neurologist and Stroke Specialist with a rich career spanning over 24 years, currently heading the Neurology department at Manipal Hospitals, Mukundapur in Kolkata. He earned his MBBS in 1991, followed by MD in Internal Medicine in 1997, and DM in Neurology in 2001 from top institutions in Kolkata. He further enhanced his specialization by undertaking a post‑doctoral fellowship in cerebrovascular diseases at the University of Calgary, Canada, where he also trained in neurosonology and was certified in transcranial Doppler / neurovascular ultrasound.
At Manipal Hospitals and in the broader Eastern Region, Dr. Roy leads the comprehensive stroke programme, combining deep clinical experience with research in vascular biology, stroke imaging, and stroke prevention strategies. His particular interest includes young stroke syndromes, Moyamoya disease, and rare cerebrovascular disorders. He has published extensively in national and international journals, and his contributions have been recognized with awards like the William McKinney Award.
