He has an excellent and impressive track record of over 21 years performing varieties of open heart, thoracic and vascular procedures.
Dr. Varma has performed over 5000 Coronary Artery Bypass surgeries independently and assisted over 4500 such cases.
He has also performed over 100 redo-open heart surgeries. He has extensive experience in harvesting skeletonized LIMA, RIMA, radial artery and saphenous vein and redo-sternotomy, thoracotomy, hemostasis and closure of chest at regular intervals.
He worked as Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon in numerous hospitals of international repute.
Dr. Varma has performed UAE’s first Total Arterial Revascularization – Triple Bypass Surgery using LIMA – Radial ‘Y’, Composite Conduit Procedure.
He is the first surgeon to perform Awake Coronary Bypass Surgery on Beating Heart in the U.A.E, and the only Cardiac Surgeon to do an Awake Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery in the Middle East.
Dr. Varma practices the breadth of cardiothoracic surgeries ranging from all kinds of valve surgeries, septal defects, maze and ross operations along with minimally invasive cardiac procedures for both valve and CABG surgeries.
