General Surgeon
Mr Arnold Goede is a Consultant Laparoscopic General and Colorectal Surgeon. He qualified in South Africa in 1996, before coming to the UK in 1998, where he completed his Postgraduate studies at UCL and the Royal Free Hospital, and his Higher Surgical Training on the Oxford Training Scheme from 2004 to 2010. At the completion of his Specialist Training he attended a Fellowship in Laparoscopic and Pelvic Floor Surgery, before taking up a Consultant position. Mr Goede has been a Consultant Surgeon in Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and in private practice at BMI (now Circle)since 2011.
He has specialist interests, training and experience in investigating symptoms in the abdomen and pelvis, as well as diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant conditions of the small and large bowel, abdominal wall defects (hernias), pelvic floor disorders and prolapse, gallstones and other benign conditions such as Crohns and Colitis. His expertise includes advanced endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy and polypectomy, and investigations to diagnose or exclude bowel cancer and other conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. He works alongside his specialist colleagues where pathology may overlap, such as upper GI surgeons, medical gastroenterologists, gynaecologists, urologists and plastic surgeons. The vast majority of his abdominal surgery is performed laparoscopically where this is appropriate and to the benefit of patients.
Recently he has started Robotic Surgery on a Da Vinci Xi in the NHS for patients with bowel and rectal cancer undergoing major surgery, and also Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery using the TAMIS platform, to remove large benign polyps or early rectal cancers in selected patients.
