Mr Imran Jawaid is an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham and Spire Nottingham Hospital. He specialises in procedures for paediatric patients and strabismus correction.
He completed his extensive training in ophthalmology throughout the East Midlands region before earning a competitive fellowship position at Birmingham Children's Hospital where he furthered his skillset in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus treatments.
Mr Jawaid is dual-qualified as an optometrist and ophthalmic surgeon, meaning he can offer comprehensive clinical management for his paediatric patients.
He can offer a comprehensive assessment for patients with eye disease and can provide surgical treatments for minor eyelid lumps and bumps, as well as cataract surgery, YAG laser surgery and squint surgery in both children and adults. He also has a specialist interest in myopia (nearsightedness) and its management.
Mr Jawaid's scholarly work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed papers, and he has received accolades for his oral and poster presentations at ophthalmology conferences. He is a highly sought-after speaker on the subject of ophthalmology, presenting at local, national, and international conferences, as well as contributing to various book chapters on the topic.
Furthermore, Mr Jawaid has a keen interest in medical education and has been a clinical educator at two UK medical schools. He is currently involved with the Education Committee at the General Optical Council and has played an active role in designing curricula for allied health professionals at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
